Streamyx: Modern Age Technology, Stone Age Speed

Smoke signalYesterday, I can’t connect to the world. The reason: Streamyx! (some people called it slowmyx). This is not the first time it happen. Usually, the connection will drop between 12 to 6pm, every single day! It is like communicating with smoke; when night comes, communication break off. The difference is, Streamyx screws up during the day, everyday!

I am not surprised to find a lot of complaints written on the blogs about Streamyx. One of the unhappy customer write about his experience with Streamyx, TMnet and whoever relates to it in his blog, blog.kavilan.com. Very emotional person (aku rase la). Btw, some of his words are very offensive and may not suitable for some people (I’ve warned you).

And the complaints did not stop there..

In another blog, paulooi.com, Paul writes about his experience with Streamyx Customer Services. Full of hopes and promises.. It is funny to read about his story, but after putting myself at his place, hangin la jugak kan.

Then, I tried to find the solution to this problem by using Google. Luckily, this post came out in the search results - 3 steps to restore a broadband (Streamyx) connection. Honestly, I haven’t tried them as I didn’t faced the problem (yet!). But, I’ve played with the first method, which is pinging your default getaway. It is really cool to see lots of numbers on the screen although I hardly understand what the numbers mean. Hehehe.

Anyway, I found some other ISPs which may suit your interest. Check them out here. And don’t forget to share your thought about Streamyx in the comments area. Cheers :)

Self discipline

This is the continuation of the previous post titled I want to be a millionaire too.

During my study, my self discipline was really terrible (org melayu cakap - malas). I always skipped classes until some of my friends didn’t notice that I was one of their classmate! Some people says Malay people are born like that (lazy). I used to have that thought too. Ataupun mungkin aku terpengaruh dgn Najib. Hahaha (Sorry bro).

Luckily, I managed to get my first degree :)

After my study, I always dreaming to be a millionaire. I make a lot of reading about personal financial management (for your information, my hobby is reading). Then one day, I stumble upon this article which is written by Andreas Bard. It was about self discipline and how to improve it. As I mention in the previous post, self discipline is very important aspect if you want to be a millionaire.

Therefore, I think these 5 steps on how to improve your self discipline are really precious and should be shared here:

  1. Be responsible - Know that you have to finish a job/assignment given to you (Jangan tiru ye adik2).
  2. Set your target - Define your goal. For example, what do you want to achieve from the job given?
  3. Be cool - Don’t freak out! There is always a way out from your problems.
  4. Set the time frame - Plan your work carefully and stick to it.
  5. Avoid distraction

After reading his article, I noticed one thing; I actually have a good time management skills as I managed to do my job in the time given. Hohoho hebat2!. But, my self disciple needs a major reconstruction as I am a last-minute person; which is not a good attitude.

I hope we can learn something from this post. All comments are appreciated. Wish me luck on my journey to become a Millionaire :)

I want to be a millionaire too!

Last night, I read a book written by Azizi Ali; The Millionaire in Me. For those who are not familiar with him, he is one of millionaires in Malaysia.

Okay, let’s talk about the book. In this book, he tells that by just staying as an employee can make you a millionaire! That is a really interesting stuff to know! But of course, there are some steps that you should follow (which are so simple).

I can’t reveal much about the content of this book as I have to respect his intellectual property. So, I just want to summarize some of the key points that I’ve learned from the book.

To be a millionaire, the top 2 conditions are:-

  1. self-discipline
  2. honesty

I will elaborate more about these 2 things in the next few posts. As for today’s advice, remember to save some of your money for future needs. Maybe you will be the next millionaire. Who knows? :)

Considering a new job offer?

I just got a phone call from a company at Cyberjaya. Actually, I was a bit surprised as suddenly I got a number of phone calls which asked me to come for an interview. It is frustrating to receive these calls as I already got a job offer! Why they don’t call me earlier?!

Anyway, I said to them I’m still looking for a better offer. If they can meet my demand, why should I stay at my current company. Right?

For me, the answer can be both right and wrong. This is because, I believe working is more than just for money. I was a student before and I know it is hard to study if I do it just to achieve a good grade. Same goes here.

I like to do a job that gives me satisfaction; meaning something that I really love to do. I don’t want to stuck in a job that makes me unhappy everyday.

In addition, after reading this post, I realised that I will meet and work with a lot of people with different backgrounds and personalities. And I have to fit in the community really well if I want to succeed.

So, maybe I will consider a new job in near future if:

  1. the new job suits my preferences, and
  2. the working environment is better than the present job, and
  3. of course, it pays more :-D
