Malaysia’s new cabinet - makes you think

A new cabinet was announced yesterday by Pak Lah with many new faces as ministers. The cabinet is a bit smaller than the previous one; with the abolition of all parlimentary secrataries. This is because Pak Lah wants ministers to be more serious in work including attending the Parlimentary Conference (Berita Harian, 19 March 2008).

I was shocked to find that some minister appointed by Pak Lah was not a candidate in the previous General Election. There are also some people who were lost in the election but still appear in the cabinet list.

Maybe Pak Lah has his own agenda to make this country a better place to live in; like his famous motto, Selamat, Aman, Makmur (meaning Safe, Peaceful, Prosperous).

11 tips on how to survive in Malaysia’s hot weather

Today is a very hot day. This reminds me the ‘horrible’ time when I came back to Malaysia few months. I was studying in New Zealand for 3 years and to be honest, it was a big ‘climate shock’ for me (is that phrase exist?).

Anyway, these are the 11 tips on how to survive in Malaysia’s hot climate:-

  1. Wear bright colour shirt
  2. Wear sandals
  3. Drink plenty of water
  4. Seek shades during a hot day (and rainy days as Malaysia receives lots of rain)
  5. Make yourself comfortable in an air-conditioned building
  6. Shopping (all malls have air-cond)
  7. Wear torn trousers (the holes function as air-intakes)
  8. Ride a bike instead of car to get the maximum breeze
  9. Sleep during the day (night time is colder)
  10. Be positive (say to yourself “i’m freezing!”)
  11. Naked (not recommended)

If you have a better solutions, feel free to submit them in the comments area. Cheers!

Sales Engineer

I just got a job as a Sales Engineer yesterday! Yeay hehehe. Actually, I don’t really know what Sales Engineer do. So, I’ve Googled it and found this:-

Sales engineers sell and consult on technologically and scientifically advanced products. They should possess extensive knowledge of these products, including their components and processes. Sales engineers then use their technical skills to demonstrate to potential customers how and why the products or services they are selling would suit the customer better than competitors’ products. (http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos123.htm)

Hurm.. From the description above, its not easy to be a sales engineer. But, we have to start somewhere right? So, I guess I’ll try my best and see how it goes :)

By the way, I’ve updated my wallpaper collection. These are among the most popular wallpapers I’ve made before:-

Toll during wedding?

I was in Pontian this afternoon; attending a wedding of my sister’s friend. It was raining, but the ceremony run as planned.

During the wedding, I noticed something that are quite interesting to share here.

  1. Karaoke
It is usual to hear loud music at the wedding ceremony, but karaoke? Hurm.. The interesting fact is, the organizer (parents) rent the equipments, radio, speakers etc. along with the singers. That is a good marketing strategy!
  2. Toll
This is a new experience for me. The bridegroom has to pay the toll (actually tolls!!) before sit next to his bride. I heard it costs about RM50 per toll (minimum) and there are at least 4 tolls in a normal wedding ceremony.

With the increasing toll rate at Malaysia’s highways, it is possible for the wedding toll rate to increase too. You reckon?
